Kylie Cosmetics

Kylie Cosmetics is an American cosmetics company founded by media personality Kylie Jenner.
  • Headquarters: Oxnard, CA
  • Founder: Kylie Jenner (the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan)
  • Founded: 2014
  • Parent organization: Coty
  • kyliecosmetics.com

Kylie Jenner, the youngest member of the famous family, sold 51% of Kylie Cosmetics, the company she started in 2015 with the launch of Kylie Lip Kits, to beauty giant Coty in a controversial deal valued at $1.2 billion in 2020.

Jenner still owns about 44% of Kylie Cosmetics.

Jenner is reportedly in talks to buy back the 51% stake. According to Bloomberg, the relationship between Coty and Jenner is tense.

Jenner’s half-sister Kim Kardashian is also in talks to buy back the 20% stake in her skincare line, SKKN by Kim, that Coty agreed to buy for $200 million the same year. Both women have expressed frustration with how Coty has managed their brands, two people familiar with their thinking said, though it’s not clear exactly which aspects of the company’s oversight they oppose.

Coty has named Andrew Stanleick as the new CEO of its Kylie Jenner beauty business.

Stanleick, who is based in New York City, is a beauty and luxury goods veteran with over 20 years of experience. He joined Coty in 2017 after nearly five years at US luxury brand Coach, where he served as president and CEO for Coach Europe.

He will also manage Kim Kardashian West’s business for Coty, with a focus for both brands on “driving global expansion and entry into new beauty categories”.

He will assume his new global responsibilities in addition to his current role as Coty executive vice president of the Americas.

Kris Jenner, who held the role of interim CEO, will remain closely involved in the strategic partnerships between Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin, KKW Beauty and Coty as a board member.

Stanleick joined Coty in September 2017, after nearly five years at U.S. luxury brand COACH and more than a decade at L'Oreal earlier. He will assume his new responsibilities in addition to his current role, Coty said.

Last year, Coty bought 20% stake in Kardashian West's makeup brand KKW.
